The Center is one of 12 major mental health service providers in Sacramento and Yolo County that benefit from the Walk for Mental Health and Health Fair, held annually on the first Saturday in October. The fundraising and awareness event includes a 5K walk from the west steps of the California State Capitol to Sutter’s Fort and back, as well as entertainment, refreshments, speakers, information booths and a health fair coordinated by Turning Point Community Programs. The Walk for Mental Health is a major source of funding support for the Center’s LGBT Community Counseling Program, the only program in Greater Sacramento and surrounding counties specifically dedicated to serving lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in a safe, affirming environment.
