Every room in the Center was bustling with activity on Dec. 10, as more than 35 people celebrated Day Without A Gay by volunteering at the Sacramento Gay & Lesbian Center. Center Volunteer Coordinator Jean Adams was a marvel of organization, with mailing materials set up in one room, computer terminals in another, telephones in another and cleaning and gardening supplies at the ready.

Among the tasks accomplished were data entry of names and contact information of some 1,000 people who have signed onto the Center's contact list; hundreds of envelopes licked and sticked for the Center's holiday card mailing; dozens of telephone calls made to potential donors for the upcoming Lambda Awards Silent Auction; and a thorough cleanup of the Center, inside and out.

Many thanks to all those who volunteered at the Center for the first time on Dec. 10 and to all our long-time volunteers, those who joined us for Day Without A Gay, and those who supported us throughout the year. We hope to see much more of all of you in 2009! You are the engine that keeps the Center running effectively and efficiently. We truly could not do it without you!
