Statement Condemning Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine

The Sacramento LGBT Community Center condemns Russia’s unprovoked attack and invasion of Ukraine and joins with human rights organizations all over the world calling on Russia to cease its invasion and occupation of an independent country.

Russia has been an increasingly hostile place for LGBTQ+ people, and President Putin’s goals to expand his power and influence upon Europe is a threat to the safety and rights of the global LGBTQ+ Community.

Our hearts are with the LGBTQ+ people of Ukraine, and for all peoples whose lives will forever be impacted by Russia’s heinous act.

If you or someone you know have been negatively impacted by what is happening in Ukraine, please know that the Sacramento LGBT Community Center offers mental health resources such as counseling, respite, and referrals at both Lavender Heights and Marsha P. Johnson Center South locations. Please call 916-442-0185 or email info@saccenter.org.
