The Sacramento LGBT Community Center celebrated the launch of its Welcome Home Campaign to support the purchase and renovation of a permanent home for the LGBTQ+ community.
In 2020 the Center purchased and moved into its forever home in the heart of Sacramento’s Lavender Heights Community, with the help of a grant from the City of Sacramento and simultaneously began securing public and private funding to pay off the mortgage and renovate the building.
“This campaign is about more than buying a building,” says David Heitstuman, CEO of the Center. “It is about creating a permanent place our community can call home, increasing accessibility, and expanding capacity to serve more LGBTQ+ people.”
The open house programming consisted of an in-depth building tour, a speaking program with Center leaders, elected officials, and early campaign supporters, and a mixer for volunteers.
