Center will Provide Vaccination and Rapid Testing at Sacramento Rainbow Festival

In a collaborative effort to protect Sacramento’s LGBTQ+ community from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Sacramento LGBT Community Center will host a free COVID vaccination and COVID rapid testing clinic on Sunday, September 5, from 12-6 p.m. during the Sacramento Rainbow Festival at 1015 20th street.

“We believe the best way to make it safe for us to gather in community spaces is to vaccinate everyone. With 54% only of the County fully vaccinated, and young people are amongst the least vaccinated groups, we are using every opportunity to encourage folks to protect themselves and the health of our community by getting vaccinated,” says David Heitstuman, CEO of the Sacramento LGBT Community Center, “We are delighted to collaborate with the Rainbow Festival organizers and BJRX Pharmacies to provide COVID vaccination and rapid testing on-site, one of the biggest LGBTQ+ community events of the year.”

Community members who get vaccinated at the Center’s COVID vaccination clinic will receive free entry to Sacramento Rainbow Festival, six-month free pass to FACES, the premier dance club for Sacramento’s gay nightlife, and a free pass through December 30 to BADLANDS, the premier LGBT Nightclub in Sacramento.

“It’s our way to encourage people to get vaccinated,” explains TJ Bruce, Owner of Badlands Night Club. “Badlands has a vaccination card policy that helps keep our staff and patrons safe, and with this new promotion at the Sacramento Rainbow Festival, we’re really hopeful that people will get vaccinated”

“Rainbow Festival has lasted 34 years and Faces has been around 36 years and we always want people to feel safe when they’re here,” said Terry Sidie, Sacramento Rainbow Festival Founder and owner of Faces Nightclub. “We are so thankful for the wonderful people at the Sacramento LGBT Community Center for providing the opportunity to encourage more of the community to get vaccinated!”

The Sacramento LGBT Community Center’s COVID vaccination and rapid testing clinic will be held at the Sacramento Rainbow Festival entrance at J and 20th Streets, folx who want to take advantage of the COVID Vaccination promotion should plan on entering the festival from there.
