National Transgender Visibility March in Sacramento, CA
The National Transgender Visibility March will take place at Crocker Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Sacramento, CA.
Sacramento is a host city for this year’s National Trans Visibility March (NTVM) happening this Saturday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crocker Park on 211 O St. This event is led by a steering committee of Queer, Transgender, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (QTBIPOC) Transgender (Trans) and Gender Non-Conforming (GNC) community leaders, and organizations.
“Visibility can be lifesaving in an area like Northern California, and the Central Valley.” Said Alexis Sanchez, The Director of Advocacy and Training of the Sacramento LGBT Community Center, “we’re hoping that this march is a beacon of hope for transgender and gender non-conforming people in rural areas that don’t have the same access to community as people who live in big cities like San Francisco or Los Angeles. This is an opportunity for them to find their community and have their identities celebrated and uplifted.”
Sacramento’s NTVM will be streamed live on the Sacramento LGBT Community Center’s Facebook page, and will feature a line-up of Trans and GNC speakers, poets, and musicians, speeches from Trans and GNC community members and organizations, and more. The NTVM steering committee includes, The Gender Health Center, Trans and Queer Youth Collective, National Trans Visibility March, the LGBTQ+ Capitol Staff Association, and other local community leaders. NTVMs happening throughout the country will be livestreamed on the nationaltransmarch.com website.
